Miles 4 MOE Foundation
Vinny and I were fortunate to participate last Saturday in the Second Annual Miles For Moe Walk and Bike Ride Day. Emil "Moe" Renzullo was born with Down's Syndrome and other medical problems which required numerous surgeries. Moe loved his time at the summer camp formerly called Camp LARC. Unfortunately he passed away at the age of 12 in April of 2010 after being diagnosed with leukemia. Everyone who met Moe was touched by his spirit and determination. Camp LARC was renamed Camp MOE in his honor. The foundation was started so that families with special needs children who could not afford to send their child to the camp could do so. The foundation also helps families who have a child diagnosed with cancer. Although I am not a parent, I can't imagine the despair that a parent would suffer if they could not afford to send their child to summer camp. For the child it would be just as worse. This foundation makes sure that this doesn't happen. There was a great turnout despite the unsettled weather. This is a great charity. Here is the website to find out more and hopefully make a donation. Miles 4 Moe Foundation

Corrections
I failed to mention that Jeff Beck was playing guitar on the first Trombone Shorty tune 'Do to Me'. Shorty has opened for Jeff Beck quite a bit in Europe.
Last week I played a couple songs by Kermit Ruffins. I identfied him as a trombone player. He is a trumpet player following the tradition of the great Satchmo.
I enjoyed Paul's pick of Graham Parsons's tunes. Our picks were pretty compatible last week.
Thanks to Peter for stopping by.

Ride for Our Heroes
We have been talking about this event which takes place this Saturday September 24. The Ride for Our Heroes is a true motorcycle enthusiast event honoring our Nation’s service members, veterans and their families while raising needed funds for the Red Sox Foundation and Massachusetts General Hospital Home Base Program. Funds raised for the Home Base Program will provide clinical care and other services to the many veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan affected by combat stress and/or traumatic brain injuries and counseling support to their families. The ride takes off here in Connecticut at the Windsor Locks VFW.

Trombone Shorty
Trombone Shorty's new album For True released on Verve records today. He will also be sitting in with The Roots on the Jimmy Fallon show 09/14.
Keb Mo
Sharon and I went to see Keb Mo at Infinity Hall last night. Keb put on a great show and interacted a ton with the audience. The show was recorded for CPTV. It was quite a different experience than I expected. Keb played several songs more than once to get it right for TV. This show will be aired sometime June 2012. Maybe you will catch a sighting of the weaker half of the No Fallout Show.
